Icon5 Puff is gone, what killed my figure eight

my fish all of a sudden started to suck in. His color was ok. water per. great. the nitrates where slightly higher tan perfect. Iv'e had him almost 2 years. I don't know how old he was when bought. He had no sign of fungi, paracite or other. I wounder what killed him.

Sorry for the loss

What are all your testing parameters?
PH, ALK, Nitrate, Trites, Phos, Cal Etc.....

There could be any number of things that could have happened.

and yes, maybe it was just his time.

HI, from experience with puffers, when they "sucked in" as you put it, it was from not eating and that was caused from either stress or old age and like people just lost his appetite.

That's what was going through my head. I know they can starve when thier teeth are over grown.
I ckecked his teeth, they where fine. I thing as bnhaus
it might have been his time. He had snails, I raised, all but 3 weeks when the snail tank brock. thank God it's a 10g. Or was, lol.
I did a change but he didn't make it. It will happen sometime. natures crazy
red sea marine lab test kit;
P.H.- 8.4
alkalinity- 2.8 very close to high on card
NH3/NH4- 0.25
NO2- 0.05
NO3- 0
That's all the lab kit i got covers. he was in a tank with sand and the bio- foam was 1 year old.
No LR or anything just him. I didn't know i needed the others for what i had. thought the rest where for coral. What can the things not tested for do? I'll keep looking

All I can do now is make sure i get those tests and hope it don't happen again. or not let it happen again
