Default How many cleaners?...

I have just purchased a 29 gallon tank and am wondering how many snails, hermit crabs, shrimp and starfish i should get. Also is it worth getting a longspine black urchin? How about a lettuce sea slug?

I have been told 1 tank cleaner per gal as for how many snails/hermits it depends on
how much sand surface you have hermit's like sand and live rock, snails I don't know much about I have hermits!!!

yeh i will probly get a few snail, hermit crab, and shrimp. Starfish i will probly not be purchasing many of since they are more expensive, maby 1 or 2. One urchine and maby a sea slug depending how much it is needed down the road.
thankks

Default consider the starfish

Think about and read up on the starfish. many of them are carnivores that will eat your fish or other inverts at night and the "sand sifting stars" tend to slowly starve over time as there is not enough microfauna to sustain them(and you don't want to lose these microfauna--helps keep your live sand live) Now Serpent/Brittle stars eat detritus from all the nooks and crannies in your tank and are what I would get instead.

Brittles are carnivores. Be careful with them. I am too going to get a serpent when my tank is established
