Icon5 Shipping Nassarius Snails

Ok, I have sold off a few snails off and on when I get too many, and always just shipped them in a damp paper towel in a ziplock bag in a priority mail box. I bought mine that way years ago, and have always shipped them the same way and never had any problems until now. I put a few on ebay and had 3 people buy all I put up for sale, and they all showed up dead... What is going wrong? Is the summer heat getting them or what? My LFS told me to ship them with a few ice cubes in the bag and let it slowely melt, but if I reship the snails to these people I dont want them dead again. Thanks

I would use the tank water and use lots of packing around it. The ice will only melt. Then ship overnight or 2 day at the most. It could be from the heat so overnight would be best and mailed toward the end of the day so the box dont sit around waiting to be shipped.
Im sure the higher temps playde a part.

Ok, I mailed a large order today in a cooler with ice packs and lots of water overnight shipping, so lets hope for the best. Thanks for the reply Lance, I can always just do what I think is best, but that is not why I post or joined Reef Builders, I like to know what other people think as well and bounce ideas back and forth. This forum has sure changed since I joined. A year ago I could have posted anything in the world and in less than an hour had a reply, if not several, and now you are lucky to get 1 reply in a week or more on many topics. I don’t know what has happened to our large reef family, but everyone needs to start posting again, that’s what set us apart from all the other want to be sites in my opinion. THANKS

They all made it alive, guess this hot heat is just too much for them. The ice pack kept them cool, & alive.
