Default Injured Brittle Star

I saw two tan scrapes on my brittle star on it's disk last week. I assumed it had just gotten stuck around some live rock. Two days ago I saw where one of the places is now open and these little things with tiny green balls are sticking out? Is this repairable and what do you think happened? It has not lost and of it's legs or anything?

I really do like this little guy any information would be helpful.

i took my very large brittle star out of my reef because i suspect him of eating a small school of firefish whose home was under a large rock and left him in a bucket for two days when i got back to him the tips of all his legs came off he lost about 60 %of his spines and his disk on the topside had about a dime size hole that had never been there before i put him in a refuge tank and after 2 weeks the disk is healed and starting to grow back some spikes. i did'nt use anything to heal him and only fed it once they are very hardy

Yesterday when I came home my brittle star had lost one of it's legs. I really hope that it will regenerate and be fine. I really like the little guy. The leg that came off looks really weird. The top of the leg has gotten itself into a piece of live rock and it looks like the live rock has a living arms dandling around.

I've got a question. If the brittle star does'nt have a brain how does it know it needs to eat or how to eat?

you're gettin deep now,i guess just like an anemone it moves around till it finds a place is comfortable and use it's sweeper tentacles to pull in food or a fish.i have noticed that they don't need to be fed often but usually won't turn down food.i believe mine was responsible for the death of a crocea clam and flame scallop as well as 4 firefish he was small around 4 inches when i got him now he's 14 inches across
