Ok...

2 perfectly healthy cleaner shrimp died today. They have molted several times already I woke this morning to find Sally light foot snacking on the remains.

Here is the set up:

12 gallon Nano
LR
Sun Coral
Misc. Frags (4)
Rose bubble tip anenome and maroon clown
Purple long tip anenome
Mandarin Dragonet
Sally light foot
Emerald crab

Any Ideas ANYONE???

Were they a mated pair ? Did they get along? I had two that were not a mated pair so it was survival of the fittest. They fought each other. They both eventually died.

Also since they had just molted they are very vulnerable and with Sally Lightfoot if she was hungry and decently sized she may have thought to give them a try at their weakened state. Since crabs are scavengers they often will take advantage of a weakened conditioned shrimp.

I would suspect the emerald crab.
