Default found crab legs! In tank not in buffet

i found my scarlet hermit crabs legs, 4 or 5 of them all stuck together. I thought he was dead, because all my crab ex. has been with red clawed crabs and when they molt their shell is in one piece. he is alive with extra shells in the tank and he has now buried half of himself. is there any thing that you think I should know?

Uh huh
hermit crabs are the easiest thing to find at the LFS. You will go through many. So if he is dead and it is a molt, it really doesn't matter. Make sure you toss in a few extra shells so they don't go all medieval on each other in the tank looking for new homes.

File it under "Crap Happens."

i have one and he is alive and looks to have all the parts, lol. i do have extra shells. i wanted to make sure he would have the right size. he has got most of his current shell buried. i've never watch a molting, it just takes a long time for it to complete. could he have molted and had room to use the same shell? Thanks for the info.
