My only experience is seeing them while scuba diving. During certain times of the year they all pop out of the sand and are all over the sandbed. I'm in CA so the water is not tropical, Don't know what water temp they are happy in, but I have read that they need very deeeeeeep sandbeds.

yeah, thanks.

Ive also read that there are a few different carieties, some that live in cooler water like near you, and some that live in the tropics.

and if I do decide to get one, get the kind that live in the tropics.

So anyone have any personal experience?
