Icon13 Atlantic Lettuce caught in powerhead!!!!

Alright guys,
I looove my Atlantic Lettuce Slug, but he is an adventure "er". He is constantly going into my overflow box, which is vutting lines closely to getting into that powerhead. Then as I was just standing in the kitchen observing the tank (LUCKILY) The lettuce fell from the top of the powerhead, only to be sucked into the bottom!!!! EEEEEKKKK!!!! Now, he is OK, just clipped the top of one of his leaf things. How do I STOP this from happening?!?!

You would need to get a sponge type of thing for every powerhead. this is one the main problems a lot of people have with them besides starvation.

how about having a beautiful piece of green singularia brand new in the tank coming loose from the rock it was attached to and getting sucked into my hydor korlia pump.

i did find a piece of it on the ground..i tried to reattach what was left but i gave up after it kept falling loose.

sorry about your atlantic lettuce. the sponge thing sounds good.

Thanks for the help, I will have to put a sponge around it. Is this ok to do on the pump for the skimmer too??

The only problem with the psonges is that you need to clean them regularly. Yeah, it should be fine to put a sponge on the skimemr pump too. What type of pumps do you have?

Just a rio..umm Ill have to look at the number on it. I know two rios, (one on skimmer, one in tank for movement) I believe they are both 600's but I will have to look at them.

I guess I am confused. What would a prefilter be Elliot?? Would I then not have to use a sponge. If there is a pump out there that I would not have to worry about the lettuce with?? Hmmm..
