Yeah just out of curiosity, because my hermit after 5 months just died : (, one of my reef hermits already took his shell too -_-, they are so evil. Also i wanted to start feeding my CUC because i feel like they have no food. So i was wondering if i put a piece of raw shrimp in the sand if that would do okay? And if i feed my snails algae sheets, how would i go about that? Just put it in the water?

| I still have some blue legged hermits that are alive from 4 years ago, but I think a typical life span in most tanks is between 2-5 years. I never feed my CUC. If they don't have enough food naturally, then there is probably too many in the tank.

eh well in my 12 gallon i have 2 nass, 2 ceriths, 2 astrea, 2 reef hermits, 1 scarlet. i believe thats not too big at all. My blue-legged recently molted. Could this have been cause of his death? My params are, 0 nitrate, ammonia, nitrite, 80-82 degrees, ph 8.0. kinda confused of why it died now.

If it just died out of the blue it could be because something wanted its shell. When a crab needs a new shell and there are none around it will sometimes just kill something and take its shell. Just a thought though.

Yeah they are pretty mean. A few of them confiscated/murdered a few snails. At least I get to see them the only time i see my scarlet is at night. It could be another molt depending how much there is to eat they can grow/molt quite often. But if someone already moved into his shell that doesn't sound too good for him. I've had mine for about 7 months now. Your temp seems to be a bit near the high end. To feed algae strips/nori just put one end under a small rock or stick it in the sand. That's what I've been doing too bad my clown doesn't know what to do with it. ![]()
