Icon14 anemone will not grab hold

hey i have just purchased an sebae anemone like 3 days ago. i did everything to put it in the tank and it opened up nicely and looked great. however the next morning it had turned over and was not attached to anything. so i moved it to the rock and it attached and opened back up but the next night it was detached. this has been going on awhile. what would keep it from staying attached? oh and it is not moving around the tank it stays where i place it but it will be turned over. help please.

It Sounds To Me That He Dosent Like The Tank Yet.add Some More Flow Maybe.but Check Paramiters.he Should Want To Stay Attatched If He Is Happy.

Where did you get it from? If you got it from a place that offers a allive guarantee then I would advise you to take it back or make a call. That guy is on his way out to me. If he is moving around its because he doesnt like his spot in the tank. If he is turning upside down he is really not happy and he could be on his way out...How old is your tank? Im guessing around 8 months? If so it may have been to early to introduce him to the tank IMO

Anemones may move around in the tank for a week or more until they find the spot with the right light and flow. Here is an interesting read.

Thanks for that article Dale, it might explain an issue I was having with my first LTA.
It is very small, but has a strong feeding response to pieces of fish, but rejects food particles and krill when they are offered to it. Appearantly mine has a strong preference for fish as its food.

My seabe did the same thing for a few days or even a week dont remember but he love I mean loved alot of water flow. Stuck right next to the spraybar a was getting blasted with water. Take a 2" wide by 2 " tall piece of pvc pipe in the sand and place the foot in there see if that works or even on a PR somewere in the tank.

Hey guys - just found this link- I got a sebae yesterday-same issue. He is moving and not sticking. I first put him near a rock, great for a bit, then current gave him a ride to other side of the tank. Called the LFS in Gainesville, got same idea: put in between 2 rocks at 90 degree angle OR 'plant' him in a piece of pvc- again did good then found him upside down under a rock cave on the OTHER side of the tank. If he likes the water flow, should I place him ON ROCK or IN SAND in direct catch of the flow? PLEASE advise I am getting worried about him, the condy we got (same day) is doing GREAT! Thanks

Try to turn off the powerheads for a few hours so he can settle in. Was the foot attached at the store or was he just laying in the tank. Time just some more time.

Your anemone can turn its self right side up all by himself so dont worry. Remember no one was in the ocean to help them when the current blows them around.

Ok, so far so good. I actually moved the pvc pipe out of the tank, because the only thing staying put in it was a blue hermit. lol
I now have him on the sand under the overflow, in a loose nestle of rocks. He seems to like it. Hasn't moved.
William - I read your last note and thought:
You stupid dummy, why didn't you think of that! Of course no one turns them over in the ocean!
I laughed at myself after reading your note! And I also pointed out to my husband who was trying to help me- duh! how stupid am I for trying to right something when it was better off by itself!
Thanks! Learning is part of this wondrous adventure!
I only hope I wasn't stressing him out by trying to help him. I will leave him be for the next few days, and 'watch' what he does.
Thanks again!!!
