Icon5 Mex. Turbo snail issues...help!

K, first started off with 3 of them for my 22 gallon tank with 25 pounds of live rock. They lasted a month and a half and for some reason all died within a week. I noticed before they died they kept falling over on their backs and I had to reset them a few times a day.

Went to get some new ones, only got 2 this time. Now about 2 months later they keep falling off the rocks, like 5+ times a day! What is going on, do they get weak and do this before dieing? Are they not getting enough food. I keep my tank very clean, 10% water changes every 2 weeks, always clean my glass, I am not one for alge on the glass, even on the back it's all clean. Feed the fish once every other day. I have 3 nassarius snails that are 3 months old, never had a problem with them. Have 2 cleaner shrimp, 2 false percu. and 1 strawberry dottyback, all of them 3 months old and very healthy.

Sorry Will. No water params. How can some one say whats happening besides old age to your snails? They do get old and die. My snails seem to last 6 mos and they do the same thing. They seem to get lazy. Its saltwater. Snails die and get ate. You buy new ones. Its an endless cycle.

If they're dying that fast it's prolly either your water params or they're not getting enough to eat. you said ur tank is super clean, but u should leave the back glass alone for a while so the snails can eat. main diet is algae if there is none they're gonna die. and mexican turbos can flip themselves back over fairly easily, so if they're falling and staying down they're prolly gonna die.

Ive had all my snails since the beginning 5 Mex turbo, 5 Astrea & 2 redfoot. I lost 2 astreas to hermits looking for bigger shell, other than that all have been in good health for about 5-6 months now. and i don't clean the back glass, but i have a black background so u can't see the algae unless you look real hard

I have had red and blue hermits in my tank for about a year only about 6 or 7. At least there cheap.... I buy a couple every few months.

nunch, thanks for your input. I have a feeling you are right about them not getting enough to eat. I did notice they flipped themselves over a lot towards the end. But at the beginning they were just fine and never fell over. I do keep even the back glass so clean probably because I don't have it painted black like you said so you can't see all the alge on it. Since the Mex. Tubos fall over easy do you have other recommendations for snails, how are the Astrea's, pros and cons...?

I will get my water param. and post them up.
