Default Fish Cam now operational:

We have updated the network camera on our tank. You are invited to take a look.

The URL is: http://lightsluvraq.viewnetcam.com:...ngle&Language=0

The username is: Aquarist (with a capital A)

the password is: watchfish

If you are asked to download an Active-X control, this is the device that lets you tilt, zoom and pan on the picture. Click yes or accept.

When the blue start page appears, click first on "single" tab which should take you to the new camera which shows the front of the tank. Click on 640x480 resolution to get a larger image. All features except "listen" are functional.

If you click on "Multi" tab, you should see smaller images from both cameras, including the old equipment room camera. You should still be able to tilt, pan and zoom by dragging the cursor and using the mouse roller on the smaller images in the Multi mode.

Please let me know if you have any problems.

I just checked the link and it will not work because RB truncated the URL so it is unusuable.

Hopefully it won't do the same thing when I manually type the URL here:

http://lightsluvraq.viewnetcam.com:50001/

Try that and let me know if it works. If your cursor doesn't show the "hand" recognizing the above line as a link on your computer, you may have to cut and paste the URL address into your browser.

I just tested the above link and it should work for you. See the above instructions about Active-X control, username and password.

Click on single and you should see the front of the tank. Click multi and you should see both cameras displayed. Some folks are not seeing the second tank.

I don't know why.

There ya go, now its working perfect! Looks amazing LL, you have been doing an excellent job with maintaining constant innovation for your personal setup. From the light rails, to the frag tank, to the water change system and so much more. This webcam just tops everything off! Keep up the awesome work George, your thread has 2,500 hits already, obviously your doing it all right.

Thanks. We're pretty happy with the Vlamingi - we've named him "Charley"

CA Reactor installation:

Several months ago we purchased a used Life Reef LRC-2 Calcium reactor for use in the system. We have waited until this time to install it, because we have read that the purpose of a CA reactor is to maintain parameters rather than to achieve those levels. So I have carefully supplemented my water with ALK Buffer, Calcium and MG since setting up the tank. I have measured water over the last several weeks, and the water has been reporting solid numbers around 9.5 dKH, 400 CA and 1350 MG.

So it was time to set up the CA reactor to help maintain these optimum numbers.

The partially assembled LRC-2:

Filled the included bubble counter with RO/DI:

And slid the counter into the slot on the reactor:

Detail of the circulating pump, optional pH probe holder and reactor plumbing:

The CaribSea ARM coarse media recommended by Life Reef:

More to follow

Filling the reactor:

Got approval from the feline inspection superintendent:

Filled to within 1" of the top as recommended by the manufacturer:

It takes about 1.25G of media to fill this reactor, which is rated for systems up to 500G. After filling with media, the reactor holds about one gallon of liquid.

Detail of top with reactor filled and running a wet test:

Here is the reactor attached to the CO2 regulator with the bubble counter adjusted for about one bubble per second:

The extension cords will be gone soon, as all plugs for the reactor will be connected to our Apex Aquatronics controller:

If you look closely, you can see a couple of bubbles in the bubble counter:

Close up of the adjusted regulator - set for 6 psi on the output side:

The Rio 810 feed pump which provides water from the sump to circulate through the reactor, mix with effluent and return to the tank:
