Electrical runs about $800. a month on the average, higher in the summer and a little lower in the colder months.

It's a spiney lobster that I got when it was about 2" long. Cute when they are small, but mine is almost 3 years old and I wish that I could get him out of the tank.........

Hi Chuck,

Im looking for some input on my tank in construction. It is 96" long, 30" wide, and 36" tall. There are dual corner overflows to a 175 gallon sump. I am planning to go with a refugium|, CO2 reactor, Heavy Skimmer, Canister Carbon.

I am a little torn on the lighting though. I currently have a 400 W 20000k MH, dual 55W 50-50 PC on my main tank now. I have tow 250 Watt Pendant HQI (20,000 k). Beyond that im a little torn with HO t5's, PC, or VHO.

Because this tank is under construction I hope that you have some of your chalanges you faced, that you can share with me.

Thanks.

Scott.

I may have missed this in the long list of replies, but what is the thickness of the acrylic? I am wanting to build one and have been told for those dimensions I should use no less than 5/8"-3/4". Thanks! Beautiful tank and setup!

My 470 is made out of 1/2" acrylic and has held up nicely.

Thank you for the quick reply. I would like to use 1/2" and Euro-bracing. The 1/2 in will save me money in materials costs but I would hate to have it 400+ gallons of water on the floor of my home office. My wife would be a but irritated with me. I have built plenty of smaller tanks but nothing this large. I will post pics of my progress once I start the tank. It is being put in as a room divider between my home office and the dining room.

Thanks Again,

Kevin
