YEAH!!!! We went to (aquatropics) in Gainesville yesterday. Nice store GREAT help (from Adam and Matias)- my husband got all the parts needed to replace all the plumbing. Turns out the tank was owned by someone, who sold it to our friend who sold it to me- so the plumbing will def be a good thing to replace. We got all new hose, etc. The guy there backed up all my ideas about everything I wanted to do to the tank---EXCEPT SOMEONE THERE TOLD MY HUSBAND YES YOU CAN PUT ANY SHARK IN A REEF TANK?!?!? AARRRGGGHHH, now we are back to that again as he wants a shark. I do not. Still trying to talk him into getting his own tank.
Ok- we get home, he gets started, and the bulk head that came with the plumbing kit I bought is the wrong size. SOOOO now I need to wait to get started because we are not driving all that way-again- just for a bulk head. I ordered my lights, got 1 white-took it home but the blue won't be in until Tuesday. No biggie- So we want to make sure the bulb fits into the ballast (icecap 660 model) Well, it does, but the ballast blew- NOW I find out that this has happened before- the person 'forgot' about it<?> hmmmmm....can you detect the frustration? Trying to be calm. So...Tuesday: new bulk head...pick up bulb...price/order new ballst...this is still so much fun -even though it is driving my husband insane. . Still no camera yet- but nothing to take pics of yet anyway- oh...! guess what to whoever is interested.......(aquatro pics) has a baby mimic octopus! He is sooo cute !! Ok- too early in the morning- blabbing on...bye for now!

Today we went to the Marine warehouse (thanks for the tip Terri) and Fins of Tampa. Cool rock /fish in both, warehouse has nice tank set ups. And................. we got the parts we needed (I am finding out more and more about this tank as the days go by) Turns out it is an older custom made tank (reason for only 1 corner flow) and the parts that were used, no longer are around. So my husband had to 'be creative' as he is- and got something else to work. So...da-da-da! Water was put in tank tonight! Actually just finishing up- but took a break to say hey....HEY!

Looks like you have the start of a great setup here.

Are you going to keep that sump? You could search for a used 55 gallon and make one heck of a sump that would fit under that thing! A 55 gallon tank converted to a sump would have room for a mega skimmer, a huge fuge, and all sorts of goodies!

I am thinking of getting my 55 gallon back up, with a 30 long converted into a sump.
