Default 800 gallon shark tank?

So at work we have an 800 shark tank (acrylic) I have a smooth nose dog fish, bat ray and a banded cat in ther right now only three fish the problem Iam having is I can not get the nitrates down I am doing water changes every day like huge water changes like three or four 50 gallon trash cans fool and I can not get the nitrates o out any suggestions?

What is your water source? If Tap water is your source there lies your problem. If using RO/DI Then the filters or membrane needs replacement!

ro/di water only 2 75 gallon polyprop sumps with the biggest aqua c protien skimmer and packed with live rock and pre filter media along with a carbon box ro/di unit is maintenenced every month personally

the tank has about 3 inches of live sand at the bottom of it do you think it could be the bat ray stirring the sand up?

I converted my wet & dry into a refugium tank, still being able to use my bio filteration, the new thing for taking nitrates way down is having mangrove trees in the refugium, but in your case this would be on a large scale, I think it would be worth it because the mangroves thrive off of nitrates.
