What happened to the good ol' days when we'd end up chatting about Becky's underwear?

Noooooo, there will be none of that tomfoolery going on!
A couple of nights ago, we were taking a walk with the kids. My 4 yr old looked at me and said "I'm wearing your underwear." I think Hanes commercials are now off limits in this house! I said, "I believe you are wearing your underwear." He said "No, I not. I'm wearing yours." Great.

I'm sorry but NOBODY touches my kids but my husband and I! They have the corporal punishment at my son's school but in order for them to carry it out they have to have the parent's signature. I chose not to let them. If anybody spanks my kids it's going to be my husband or I. If the school has a problem they need to come to me and it will be taken care of. Granted some kids aren't diciplined at home and really need a good spanking, but you also have to take into account that sometimes kids can just be ornery. My kids are good kids, they don't scream and throw fits in the grocery store, they say thank you and are polite but they aren't perfect. They do things they shouldn't sometimes, but you can't expect a 2 year old and a 5 year old not to do something wrong every so often. There would be h*ll to pay for anybody who spanks my kids.

NO, dont get me wrong, i completely agree with you!

lol, im not gonan go around spanking kids without a consent.

im just saying, i wish i did have consent from some parents. Trust me, im not one of those people that looks at a kid and says "they need a good woopin" lol

half the time when kids get out of line, its because they think they are just being playful.

Im talking about the kids who try to punch me!!!

and the oes that wipe their cheese doodley fingers on my new shirt lol.

I look at kids and says they need a good whoopin...including my oldest sometimes when he is kicking walls and doors in my house in the middle of a fit. I probably got spanked 4 or 5 times as a kid and I remember needing all 4-5 of them. Some of you might think I needed closer to 10 but it is too late for that.

Hehe...I don't know which to talk about, the war (no to controversial) Bekcys Underroos's (no that's not nice) Spanking and disciple in general (BINGO) Ok as a kid I didn't get beat or anything so I don't want the spca or whoever handles that to get involved....however when I was real bad I would get the back of a leather belt....or a shoe(the shoe was thrown and half the time poorly.) Me being reallybad included punching THOUGH walls or doors. But you know what it straightened me out for the most part and got me ready for lifes harder lessons. I personally think that kids today heck society today is undisciplined and it's only going to snowball down hill. Now I wouldn't want a teacher to start punching kids in the face because they made a spit ball. But I really don't think that's the kind of unruleyness we're talking about here. But maybe that's just me...to be honest I don't think I'm going to use a belt on my kids...just a good spanking when they do something wrong (keep in mind I don't have kids yet so I have no idea where my "limit" will be) I agree with becky (both about underwear and spanking) and think that's it's natural and healthy.

As far as common sense he's probably rolling over in his grave if he's reading this thread LOL.

Anthony, you know how to shut down a topic. Usually I just take toys away. I have bagged all of my kids' crap up and I am making him work for each toy. He is currently grounded for hitting my husband. Each hit equals one day in the doghouse. How do you ground a 4 yr old. It's called no treats, no going outside to play with the wormy neighbor kid or ride the new bike, and no watching Star Wars.

I have 2 girls. They love me and I love them. They are both in their 20s and in major universities. Want to come home and spend time with dad. We go shopping together, football games together, work on the tanks together, as well as a host of other things.
I spanked often and hard. I never gave them choices for there punishment and I never counted to 3. I used wooden spoons, belts, wood trim and yes my hand also.
Some would consider it beating. My wife did at times. However, my kids never (well, once) looked at their mother or myself and said no for any reason, never said we were stupid, was never disrespectful to elders, sat at the table and ate what was put on their plate, never bit other kids, never got anything but good reports from teachers. On top of that My kids were limited to the TV, never had a video game but were told to go outside and find something to do. I constantly reminded them while they were growing up I was NOT there best friend I was there parent first.
It worked for us and my daughters would tell you today with out hesitation, there was never a minute in there lives they didnt know I loved them and there mother with all my heart. Punishment was never given in an angry spirit but with love as a responsibility I had to do. Something hard for our society to understand today.

Today that relationship has changed from parent to mentor/counselor and I can see in the future it will be as friends and after that I will be the child and they will be the parent telling me what I need to do.

I have no advice, not that anyone is asking, times have changed. Moms and Dads have to work a full time jobs, and kids have game boy to fill the void. We have left the raising of our kids to the schools and churches and we wonder why the family as a unit is breaking down.

I do not know what my kids are going to do with there children. It weighs heavy on my mind sometimes.
