The new civics are awesome. I have been looking at them recently, and some of the really new ones run off of natural gas instead of gasoline which is really cool. I dont know about your truck but i would trade my BMW for one of the new civics. It is old and fast but does love to break alot, maybe my driving has something to do with that though.

They are awesome cars if you have the money to buy them new. Unfortunately i did not and had to get one that was 13 years old. That was probably the biggest hole in my plan. My physics teacher always had a new one in high school and they were always really good for him, you just need to have the money for a new one. And yes, i think mine is mostly the driving. I had the car for 6 months and had to get new brakes, rotors, 4 tires, and a new exhaust.

yeah i had originally wanted the tacoma, but i spent much of my money of fish.....

so i got a used ford ranger xlt. and not those little dinky rangers.

by next winter, i plan on putting a 3-4" lift on it. the ranger actually looks very similar to the tacoma from the front.

thats what im talking about!

I think it is fine get a vehicle shoots out bad stuff from the exhaust because it is mostly the factories that polute the environment along with the energy companys. I am a firm beleiver in wind mills, sea turbines, and other alternative energy sources.

I found out today from someone i know that is a master at random facts that a cow farts about 200 times a day and the methane that is released actually has a decent impact on global warming. Thought it was really interesting. Kinda gross, but also interesting.

i have had a very knowlegable science teacher in my highschool days, and mr barto said how car emmissions are just a VERY small fraction of the global warming problem. I also beleive it shows that in the movie and inconvenient truth.

Very true - however, (you knew that was coming!!) there are a lot of things that individuals can do to make an impact. Changing lightbulbs from the old ones to the new ones make a big difference, recycling etc...

I'm not one to preach - I'm sure I dont do enough, but I am trying to take reasonable steps to help the environment. I've changed all of our lightbulbs, I try to recycle at home (although I destroy a small forest daily at work - trying to figure out how to change that), I try to collect the waste ro/di water and use it in the yard... I try to remember to bring my cloth grocery bags to Trader Joes etc...

There are some things I can't help - I drive 25000 - 30000 miles a year - major fossil fuel consumer!!

I think if everyone would make small changes it would make a big difference...

(As for the cows... as long as they continue to taste good I'll forgive their methane production - I'm a firm believer of the other PETA - People for the Eating of Tasty Animals - uuhhh ohhh I probly opened a can o worms!!)

Here is the thing about surveys. Orbit spent 40,000 dollars to do a survey on gum. Do you know who the obvious winner was yes it was Orbit. All test are done the same way when it comes to car and driver. ETA gas mileage is tested the same way for a corvette as it is for a prius. Look at the corvettes eta gas mileage. Its 23 mpg in the city on a car that has 7.1 liters of displacement lol. Thats laughable. Long story short if you were to test the Chevy aveo(I think thats the car they mentioned) at the same 8 miles per second you would get much different results. Yes the Civic get 36 mpg. Only if you accelerate at 3 miles per second. But thats still a whole lot better then the Corvettes 22 mpg at 3 miles per second.

LOL...I have got to listen to that audio and see how driving a Hummer is better than a prius...don't get me wrong I love my Jeep, but at the same time I wish it was a bit more fuel efficent. I have the energy saver lightbulbs in both my house and my parents house. My parents recycle (I would be it's darn tough living in an apt.) My father's a printer so no paper conservation there hehe. As far as me goes I only use what I need and that's about it..well except the waste RO water...I have yet to figure out how to capture it then use it in a useful way...I really don't use that much water except for the shower...I guess I could take baths in RO waster water hehe.

take baths in the waste RO water. get nice and minerally.

tonz, i see exactly what you are saying. I doubt the aveo could even get 8miles per second lol.

And if you really think about it, 3 miles per second is only a little bit slower than normal driving. It probably takes about 10-15 seconds to get to 60. I know, that is 4-6 miles per second, but its not too far off.
