Hi all,

There is this hole (see pic) in my open brain. The pic is very crappy but its the best I could do with this camera.

Anyways, the "skin" is present, its just tucked into that hole. The other night I seen a large bristleworm coming out of the hole and so I got out the tongs and was able to grab it. I was hoping that I helped it on the road to recovery, but then last night, I saw another smaller one coming out, and was unable to catch it.

My question is, 1 is that hole normal? The way the skeleton is shaped in that area, it looks like it could be normal. And 2, will the bristleworms cause this coral to die?

The coral itself does inflate during the day and but I don't ever see it putting out its tentacles at night. I've only had it for about 3 weeks.

i have very limited experience with brain corals,but in any case, bristle worms and most corals = bad. that is why it is stressed to get them out of the tank asap, as they eat corals.... usually i would say get a banded shrimp, or my personal favorite, an arrow crab (best thing i put in my tank i see him eating them all the time). but do not mix the two as they will surely kill eachother, at leangth to the statement normally i would say get them, in fishing the bristle worms out more damage can be caused....

but to answer the question i would say bristle worms in your tank is not good, i would assume bristle worms in your brain coral is probably worse. :-(
