Not sure about the generator that you are asking RC about, but I see that you are from McAllen... My Uncle Willie used to own a radio station there for years and my uncle Phillip owned "The Farmers Garage" for years.

Have not seen either of them since I was a kid.

if you look, there are 5 frogspawns (the one on the far left is blurred by a reflection). they are all originally from 1 colony, and w/in 2 years, this is what they have become.

it has already split from 3-4 heads in a matter of 3 weeks. How fast do these grow.

Like most corals it all depends on your water parameters and lighting requirements; so its hard to say exactly how fast they will grow.

Just curious guys with my new frogspawn, when do you feed your frogspawn. I planned on giving it some brine shrimp here on a weekly basis. Not sure if I feed them at night or during lights out or morning or mid day or afternoon. Just want my frogspawn to be happy and grow grow grow.

Will post a pic this weekend after it has finished getting acclimated.

I feed mines live brine shrimp every other week and supplment with DT phytoplanton 3 times a week, outside of that nothing else. I feed midday when they are fully open and swaying. Its neat to see them capture the brine shrimp, my hammer coral for that matter too.

Thanks a bunch. I will do something similar. I will be picking up a variety of foods for future corals that need to be fed.

Thanks for the quick answer, much appreciated.

No problem, just remember that if you can get corals that eat similar food so that you don't pollute your water column with so many different things between water changes. I like to use DT and live food, nothing more. I try to give things that are natural for them to eat in the wild. Just my 2 cents.

Default Torch coral

Here is a picture of my new torch coral. Just ordered a new Frogspawn, but it hasn't opened up fully yet so I will post a pic in a few days.

I had 1 with 4 heads but 1 head broke during shipping. Soon after that the head next to it died and I think the 3rd head is going as well.
The 4th head has been out and going strong. I got a replacement one coming because the place I got it from had a gurentee for 14 days.. yeah for that!!!

Questions - When 1 head dies do you leave it on the peice or remove it?

If you have 3 of 4 heads die even after they were acclimated into your tank, I'm sure you have, but re-check your Ca, Alk and Mg for sure. Perhaps even do a water change just to make sure that all your stuff is in order. I would hate for that 4th head to go in the domino effect along with the replacement one your getting.

They have only been in there since Saturday 9/22. The head that broke off during shipping died on Sunday, it was obvious it was going to go. The 2nd head made it to Monday and the third head was coming out this morning but barley. It already has a small part on it that looks bad.

It hasnt even been in there a week. The rest of the coral are doing great so I think its just because it was broken during shipping.

woudl you recommend removing the dead peice or does it matter?

I would remove the coral into a small bowl, gently rinse (with fresh tank saltwater) away all of the dead parts and then place the remaing head back into the tank. Maybe the chemicals being released by the dying heads are affecting the last one. If it doesn't get better after this, you might have to use it as a decoration piece, lol

The peice that broke off during shipping smelt so disgusting. I am afraid that whatever killed the 1st 2 heads is something growing inside the branch which is why the 2nd and potenially the 3rd head died.

it sucks it was a really nice peice. The head that is going strong comes out and is gorgeous!

Keep your fingers crossed :-)
