ok. I got the 2nd shipment from this online vendor of Frog Spawn and it again is dying. Im not sure what the issue is!! Nothing else is wrong in the tank. It slowly takes over 1 head after another - a clear foam goes over the head and the peice dies.

When I took the first one out of the tank after it was dead it was all black inside and smelt awful - Could this be some weird fungus killing it ??

The 2nd peice I got is now doing the same thing but 3 of the 6 heads are ok... for now!

do you have any soft corals?

Some corals use chemical warfare to kill eachother for space. if you have some soft corals, try keeping them at opposite ends of the tank.

I have 2 Torch 1 on each side of the tank, but not close enough to get to the Frogs i think.. I will move the one to see if it gets better. Could that happen in a few days?

Maybe you should either not purchase from that vendor any longer or purchase from another vendor and see if their frogspawn does the same thing. If everything in your tank is doing fine doesn't mean your tank is fine, it just means that your other corals have gotten use to the conditions. Keep us posted.

I think its just the vendor. Something just not right about the branch part of it when its dying. It just dosnt look right.

My tank test's almost perfect tho - so im pretty sure my tank is good. I have it tested at a local store as well ever week and so far so good.

Nitrates are the only thing that is not perfect - Its always a little above 0

Physically they may not be able to get in contact with the soft corals, but chemically they can reach the other side of the tank. Yet another reason to really research your corals and make your setup cater to your show corals and not a mix reef that have different needs and like to fight, lol.

How long has your tank been cycled? Any changes as of the recent weeks or days before your first shipment just to rule out everything on your part?

The tank has been cycled for about 2 -1/2 months now. We used all live rock and live sand and really kept on it and it was great. We waiting tho to put anything in it till we got back from cancun so living thinga have only been in it for about a month. We have been adding slowly. The only things that were added prior to the Froqs were some purple mushrooms (they said there blue but they are totally purple) and a Dragon Goby.
