Default HELP with brain coral

The newbie that I am is worried about something that is probably nothing, but I am not taking any chances! This is my new brain coral, I can't find it in my book anywhere so I am not sure if it is normal for it to have the little feather things coming out at night. Is it hungry? Is this normal? Thanks for help.

It's normal. I do not know what specific kind of brain it is, but this should happen nightly. Try feeding it something meaty every once and awhile and watch the show!

I beleive its Trachyphyllia brain coral. Its common for those 'feathery" things to come out at night. Those are its sweeper tenticles. This is one of the only brains that doesnt like to be fed meaty items as much, so make sure you supplement its diet with phytoplankton or some sort of food designed for filter feeding inverts.

Thanks everyone for the reply. I just turned on my new MH lights and the brain coral looks very happy. I feed the tank 1 tablespoon of plankton every other day. Thanks again!
