Default Moving brain

Does anyone know whether brain corals have a tendency to move? Bought one recently & it's moving around in my 12 gal cube - takes the piece of LR with it that it's on!!

Yep, small open brain, attached to a piece of rock. Moved twice so far with the rock - current not doing it & neither are crabs or snails pushing it. Also started to hunker down into the sand the last time.

If it moves its not a brain, If it is a brain then something else is moving it.

Brains do not, can not move!

Put it back where I want it in the tank. Wasn't home most of the weekend but noticed it was moving once again, closer to the front glass. From yesterday, it moved a 1/2".
Seems this coral has a mind of its' own (no pun intended)!!!

Gary, I believe you. I believe that after being a hobbyist for as long as you have, you know what a brain coral is and I believe you when you say it is on the move. I don't know what it causing it. Sounds like a tv program that should follow Medical Incredible on the Discovery Channel.

And the winner is..... the brain coral by 4 lengths. Late last week I put the coral/rock back where I wanted. This morning it's back up against the front glass. Been watching it to figure out how fast it moves - Sunday night to Monday morning - 1/2". Monday morning to Monday night - 1/4". Monday night to this morning the remaining 1/4".
I'll try to get some pictures when I get a chance. Too busy floating down the river after work.

i dont see how a brain coral could move around if it has a rock as a base, my brain just gets really huge during the day, like 2/3 the size of a human brain then shrinks at night. maybe you have some nazzarus snails under it that like to play and they are moving it around. OR.....the coral was on that fishing boat from that tv series THRESHOLD...and its DNA has been altered and its slowly changing into something of which we do not speak!!!!! RUN FOR YOU LIFE!!!!!!

Im not super smart. I admit that. At first if some one told me their brain coral moved Id say they are drinking too much phytoplankton, but, if Gary says his brain coral moves then I believe him!

Hey Gary! Send me a PM and let me know how that therapy is going. Jim

Gary isn't the only one with a nutty brain coral. Yesterday I tossed new hermits into the tank. This morning I went to check out my son's tank and the brain was eating a hermit crab still in its shell. I saved the hermit...this time. Might not be so fortunate next time.

My brain stays in the same spot and does not move. It enlarges by puffing out but does not move around the tank.
You must have something else!

brain corals CAN move, open brians especially. they can pulse their flesh in order to move if the conditions are not favorable where they are at.
