I don't feed mine anything, (it loves my Metal Haldies) although you can feed them mysis at night when they have their polyps extended like this:

I don't feed mine any differently than my other filter feeders. You should be good to go with all of your reef nutrition food. Should not have to feed it shrimp (but I might have to start after looking at Ryan's pic! Mine hasn't been opening up as much at night, but the clowns have been rubbing up against it too. I'm sure it is slightly irritated. Check when it is good and dark, the red should separate from the green!

hi keith,
i've had my brain,,, for six months,,, puff's out , i don't do anything special in feeding, Ocean Blend every day, iodine twice a week,,, then every other day rotate through plankton, coral life and coral snow ...... just make sure it has plenty of room to grow,,, and don't stick it under a colt coral or anything whose tips will hand down and or brush up against it,,,, because they are aggressive,,

Probably dont need to be fed, but its fun, ours used to open up when we fed prime reef frozen food to the tank. If you want to see it open up target feed it a little prime reef or something like it.

Thanks for the tip, Ryan. I fed mine squid and it had the chunk down in a few minutes. I cannot wait to explore more food options!

I have a Brain Worm Platygyra Coral. When I first got it, it was a bright green and really hard as a rock, and the polyps extended every night. Now after about 7 months, its more of a dark purple and dark green color, slightly squishy, and never extends it polyps. The weird thing is, is that it is growing like crazy! why could this be? calcium levels are good. All parameters are good as well.

I have the same open brain coral (red) and I feed her small pieces of Formula one.
She seems to love it.

I have an open brain - lobophyllia. It filter feeds, but also "puffs out and extends tentacles" 1-2 times a week. I usually give it small pieces of raw shrimp or scallop when it extends its polyps. It's cool to watch it eat.
