Default Coral Dieing Off

I had a peice of Frogspawn shipped to me that had 4 heads on 1 peice. 1 head broke off durning shipping and died like a day or 2 after. Now im noticing the head next to where the other head broke off is starting to die off. I think that part of it was handled poorly during shipping. The other 2 heads look good but they are all connected on a 1 branch.

Should I cut off the dieing peice of just let it be?

Will it hurt the rest of it to have some of it dieing?

THANKS!!

Everything is good. Nitrates are a lil above 0 but still within ok range.
All the other coral is doing fantastic. salinity is .206 - .208. Temp is between 75 - 78.

Laura,
I wonder if your frogspawn is still alive? What is your lighting as your frogspawn will need lots of intensity. Keep it away from all other corals so there is no competition. Since it has sweeper tentacles, it may attack and harm other corals within its reach, which may in turn cause them to release toxins. Requires moderate water movement over it, this will help wah away dead material. And some carbon filtration to clean the water as it demands excellent water quality... and calcium supp. of course to help its skeletal growth.
Maybe an energy boost? Please let us know how you make out with your frogspawn.
Maybe this article will help:Feeding Saltwater Aquarium Corals - Part 1 - Corals Need More Than a Lot of Light

The 1st pc completely died. Got all moldy looking and dissaprared there is no coral left on the branch pc. The 2nd pc I got 3 of the 6 heads are going strong. I dont know why 3 of the heads died and now the 3 that are left are fine but they are.

I was slow - It would start on 1 area of the coral and then slowing move on through the entire peice till all the coral was gone.

It was really weird but its done now.

Thanks

That 75 - 78 degree temp seems a bit low,you may need a heater. The temp on the live reef that some of us have been watching for a week or so is 84 and it has been cloudy every day.

Laura, sorry to hear of your loss.

Chuck, Good point native man about the heater, I noticed that my xenia, though a softie, did much better when someone suggested to keep the heat higher. Imagine, you have it isolated away from other corals. Do you have softies cohabitating in the same tank? If so, keep the LPS closest to the current source so that it does not get the current which has traveled over a softie first. I've read somewhere that the softies release toxins that harm LPS. Mild or moderate water movement and excellent water quality needed. Does it have a 'brown jelly' infection or is green algae invading the skeleton, or is it just not extending its polyps fully? May need more light... What is your light source?
