Default What do I feed a Hammer Coral?

Could anyone tell me what I should feed these coral? And should I spot feed them also? I have had these for a couple of weeks and really want to feed them something but not sure what, so any help would be great.

Is it Euphyllia ancora also called anchor coral? Even though I don't have one, this general article on feeding corals was recently e-mailed to me, and it may help for the Hammer, too
What Do Corals Eat? - Part 4 - Corals Need More Than a Lot of Light
I probably would never be able to get one due to their special compatibility considerations, needing lots of room so they don't sting others nearby.
I believe the Hammer is number two on the top 20 list of coral aggressiveness. (I am having a problem with overcrowding right now as my xenias, yellow polypes and two leather mushrooms are hogging all the room.) SO IF YOU FEED IT LOTS, IT WILL DEMAND MORE ROOM.
Careful though with overfeeding as they demand excellent water quality ...(calcium supp. of course) and are sensitive to green algae invading the skeleton... a strong protein skimmer will help take care of that.
Let us know how your hammer prospers.

They like light and meat. (small meat) Maybe some small mysis.

I do not feed anything directly to mine. It might catch a little zooplex once in awhile and thats it. Fine with me as I cant afford to have it getting any bigger now.

can these be fraged or do you have to wait for them to split on there own? Ijust picked one up with 5 heads Nice and full once it completely opens back up I will post a pic of it.

Be one of those things to put in the frag tank and spot feed as often as it will except

Propagation
Torch corals most often take on a branching skeletal structure, making them much easier to propagate through cutting methods than many euphylliids. Cutting can be achieved with a dremel tool or CAREFULLY using a pair of pliers. Be sure to cut well below the flesh, and take care not to damage the live tiussue during cutting.

there are a few different types of hammer to alot of people think of the hammer coral as just one species but really there are different kinds such as branching and the most popular ones that just zig zag in skeleton formation, plus they come in different shads of green to brown, usually the brighter in green they are the most money you will pay but this all depends on where they were picked out of the ocean so it is good to research corals before you buy them i have 2 colonies myself and i never feed them i have tried and i think they prefer very tiny bits of food and the bigger ones not so much, also i use zooplex on a regular basis and i think they like those, plus i use phytoplankton as well which im sure helps them as well as everything in the entire ocean relys on it with out it there would be nothing

rent the ocen blue DVD's they are very helpful in understand the ocean entirely
