Default broken candy cane

I dropped my candy cane coral on the floor. TWICE!!!! Needless to say it broke into several pieces. I'm not sure if this is one of those corals that are toxic when you frag it but it sure does smell when you break it. Now that I have pieces of this coral what do I do with them? Right now they are laying on the bottom of the tank. If I put them in a hole on my live rock will they attach to it or do I need a frag kit in order to save any of it
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nina

It looks like you should epoxy it to a rock. It said that it is a easy one to propagate.

just try to not press down on the flesh as this will cut the tissue causing massive damage

good luck with the frags, if most make it I woud consider putting up a frag tank to grow them out for a while then trade/sell them. If you put together a frag tank please post pics and details in this thread.......

Scott thanks for the advice I will try to be easy with them.

John I had just taken this coral out of the qt tank I'm gonna try to let them grow in the dt tank. Don't think I have enough energy to start another tank. Good luck with yours.

Do I really have to glue them in place or will they be ok just sitting in the holes on the rocks?
thanks for all the help.

They will be fine with out the epoxy but you will be putting them back all the time. Your crabs and snails will knock the off all the time. If you use a small amount of epoxy you can get them off later if you want. Gust stick a knife in-between the rock and epoxy. You could put them in the sand bed if that have enough of a stem. You crabs and snails will still move them but not as bad.

Thanks Ed. you are correct the snails are moving them all over the place. Getting ready to go to store to remedy this situation.
Experience is the best teacher guess I'm gonna learn the hard way

Nina: How are the candy cane corals doing. Are they puffing up? If so you should be in the candy cane frag sales business in a few months. Keep us posted.

I think four of the frags are gonna make it.
The others are still bare and white.
When I dropped it the first time it hit my dog and then the carpeted floor. Second time I dropped it, the coral hit the hard floor and shattered. Guess I should be thankful for any of them that make it after all that trauma.
Thanks for checking and I will keep you posted if more decide to come out of it.

Ed, thanks for asking about the frags. I have three that are looking good. I have two of them attached to mag frags which are on the back glass and the other is glued on top of the rock. Should I leave them on the mags or should the whole thing be glued to a rock?

I like the mag frags. Where did you get them? I could see them helping with my over crowding

Premium Aquatics here in Indy. I'm not sure if you glue the whole thing to a rock or if you just leave it on the magnet forever. these would be beneficial in a small tank.
