Slice that stuff!

..Then cut back on lighting times..

My buddy has an entire refugium filled with chaeto. He loves it like that, but I try and persuade him otherwise.

Be sure to slowly remove it in sections though, you wouldn't want your system to go into any kind of shock from a drastic bacteria shift.

Emerald crabs will eat the stuff as well as lawnmower blennies. To slow growth, nutrient control is the only option as light deprivation will kill your coral. Nitrate and phosphate absorbers will probably slow it down enough so you can use a crab or blenny to wipe it out.
The absorbers will also absorb the nutrients from the crab and blenny poop to prevent a reoccurrence. Scissors work great as it helps export the nutrients out of your tank. I'm having the same problem but my purple tang just killed my blenny and emerald crabs are $15 a pop when they are available.
