Default algae?

I have a 10g saltwater tank with nothing in it. I am trying to grow as much algae as possible in it. I mainly want hair algae. I have some live rock in the tank, just a few small pieces. I want the algae for my yellow tang as a treat. What is the best way to grow the algae? Is there any way to make the process fast?

Nitrates and phosphates. Overfeed your 10 gal. and use tap water for top-off and water changes.

And one more quick question. I want to have an algae filter in my 55 gallon reef tank. Would I be able to buy two 10 gallon tank, take the sides off of each one, and then glue them together to make a 20 gallon tank? And also, there is about a 4-5 ft height difference between under my tank, and the top. What GPH pump should I look into getting for the return line? Im not looking to make a lot of current, because my tank already has plenty. Now im thinking, would I be able to take the side off of only one tank, glue it to the other 10 gallon tank, and drill holes in the side of the 10 gallon that i didint take the side off of. And, should I use PVC pipeing, of flexible tubing? What size holes should I use? Sorry, its not really one "quick" question.

Is this to culture Phytoplankton or more of a refugium? I've seen some stuff about "algae filters" and other than refugia have no clue? I have a refugium with Chaeto, small amount of hair and some fine green micro algae on the sides of the refugium.

No, I actually wanna get some of that sea lettuce from Sea Life Inc., And grow it in and algae filter. Then if I go away on vacation, i can just put some under a rock form my tang and coral beauty. It will also help make better water parameters.

When you do a water change from the 55, use that old water for a change on the 10 gallon tank... That should work well with having the algae grow.

it is a macro alage that can get out of control in a display. but people have it because it gets rid of nitrates and is a place for mico oraganisms to live in.
