Default refugium

I am going to get a refugium. I want it to filter the water and grow live foods what would be the best water filtering inverts.? I was thinking sponges, algae, LRand LS. any other suggestions?

I would go with Chaeto to grab the nitrates & give your pods somewhere to hide.

At the moment I don't have a refugium...so would it be possible to put Chaeto in a hair net type thing to keep it confined to a small side of my tank?

i have seen Cheato just clumped up in many tanks. I have a crap load of it in my sump but it seems to grow into it self....it just gets dense as ot grows.
