Default Macro Algae out of these 5.......

SEA LETTUCE , RED ALGAE , CODIUM , CHAETOMORPHA , CAULERPA OR SHAVING BRUSH TO CHOOSE FROM

any mix of these 5 or all of them? What would be the best for simply filtering out the bad and unwanted, I know that the CHAETO is good and doesnt release anything back into water. Should I just stick with CHAETO or mix it up, I would like to use some of the sea lettuce as a feed also.

I put together my fuge with the protein skimmer and some diverted flow area's to place some base LR in, and some type of other bio filtration on 1 side of a 29 gal tank, fuge in middle for LS and ???, and a sump on other side witch i plan to place some LR & LS,

If I can get my junk camera, to upload pics to my also junk pc, I will post some pics of this and my DT,

Also Ive been wanting to post a pic of this..............I have a sponge (came in on shipped LR ), doesnt look bad off, its yellowish tan kinda, about 2" long and maybe as round as a 1/4"-1/2", has some holes along top of it( which rise up just a little, there is a few others on this rock just not as big. Maybe 5-6 in total.

I was thinking on ordering 1 of these fugestart up kits.

REFUGIUM STARTER KIT- 5 MACRO ALGAE, PODS, SNAILS STARS - (item 130140457375 end time Aug-13-07 15:34:41 PDT)

Does the sea lettuce grow fast like the chaeto does? Im thinking on getting just these 2, my fuge will hold about 5 gallons of water maybe a little more,
fuge area of 12" x 12" x 14" and I plan on trying some of the twist type flourescent grow bulbs.

Would it hurt to paint outside of fuge black? or to wrap it in alum foil, to hold light in and out of my living area @night?

Thanks John

oh, and also dont get shaving brish plants, they are a very high maintinence plant, meaning that they are constantly "shedding" and all the stuff needs to picked out form filter, pumps, and what have you.

they seem to be too much of a pain, i had 6 in my 30, and they were not worth the hassel.

Does anyone know exactly how much Fe supplment macro algae needs to thrive? I have Chateo in my refugium and a 12 hour reverse lighting schedule, but while my corals thrive, my macro algae looks like its on the brink of dying. Its not lush like it should be, more like a slight whitish tint to it and somewhat brittle. My water parameters are fine however. My mangroves are growing and my skimmer pulls out a cup of skimmate in 4 days or so.

pH 8.31
Temp 80
Ca 420
Alk 9 dKH
Mg 1350
Nutrients are zero
