I looked up information on mangrove care. They recommended lighting between 6000k & 8000k. I found some flourecent bulbs rated 6500k (23 watt). I was going to try two of these. The place where bought them grew them outside, but they had a shade screen over them to lessen the light. So I'm going to see how this works.

dont let them get too close to the light, i made the fatal mistake of soing this and 20 out of 21 plants perished. of course, i also put some in normal dirt, and didint acclimate them slowly...but, the 10 that i did put near a light, 9 died. SO BE CAREFUL!

Yeah I've been trying to find the best distance to set the bulb so theres not any heat on the plants. I used 19 onf the plants. The LFS owner bought 12 of them from me to use in some of his tanks. I gave two of them to a buddy of mine. He wanted to try them out in his betta tank. I'm going to experiment with them and see how they do under different conditions.

i read somewhere to have at least 4 inches of space bnetween the plant and light, but that doesnt seem like very much IMO
