I know I keep posting and it is probably getting annyoing, but for any of you that know anything about construction, My 40g breeder with 250lbs of sand, lights, all equipment filled with water, and a 20g sump underneath on a 2nd floor. What are the chances that it would fall through?

OH, and its on my home made 2x4 stand which probably wighs close to 33-35lbs.

The house is 33ish years old just in case that helps any.

FINALLY! my lights got here, along with a thermometer. My frag tank is official now! All I need to do is match the salinity and temp to my DT and I will hopefully get some fraggins videos done.

I will post pics later tonight, but for now, its off to work.....

So approx 400lbs of water, plus 250lbs sand, plus 35lbs of stand. That is already an overestimate of weight because the sand will displace some of that water. We will call that a nice even 700lbs, 40 breeder is 36x18 inches or 648 square inches, 700lbs divided by 648 square inches is barely over 1lb per sq inch. I had a 135 gallon old oceanic tank(extra thick glass) on a nonloadbearing wall in a 100yr old+ house at one point. It gave my landlord fits every time he looked at it, but in 5yrs+ I was in the house we never had any issue with it.

Thanks, that definately makes me feel better. What I may end up doing is getting some ply-wood and cutting a piece to fit directly under the stand to even the pressure out as best as I can.

So what did you settle on for lights? The 85 watt fixture is one which I've used over my 35g refugium for a over a year. It worked great. Wiring it was simple. It is rather tall though.

Well, I am still not completely sure on this question. How simple is it to wire? That will be a big concern in my quest to find the right light lol.

I have some excellent news about how soon my tank will be coming to.

I have a family friend who wanted to get ride of 462 pounds of aluminum (he didint know it weighed that much)

So, I hapily took it to a metal salvaging place and earned myself 228$!
Looks like I will be ordering the sand on sunday or monday

Another huge twist.... My fish room is back on track

I cleaned everything out and will be moving the tanks down in the basement tonight. The fishroom is next to my 55g. I will draw out a pic tonight later when I am done moving.

Nope, not yet. I was trying to figure out the best way to get them all connected. Basically what it is, is:

a 55g with a 20g sump underneath, then:

a 40g breeder with a 20g frag tank underneath.

The 55 and 40 are in seperate rooms as you saw in the video. I was just going to connect the sump and frag tank and somehow transfer water back and forth through a pump or something.

Any ideas? Arent you doing a similar thing?

Alrighty, So I got all the plumbing done, just need to wait for another return pump. Will try to take some pics this weekend.

Also, Got 120lbs of live sand and 1g of mineral mud.

The mud made the top of the water FILLED with foam. The foam is thick enough for me to pick up with my hand and squeeze it and let it ooze out my fingers. Anyone have any idea why?

Also, Another 80lbs of sand should be here within a few days....I am not sure why everything came seperate... I will take pics when the water is not so cloudy.

Got the plumbing done and as promised, I have some pics. I also received the other 80lbs of LS today

Nothing special really, Just have a ball valve and then it is the same way next to my 55g. The two pics above are next to my 40g and 20g.

Here is the sand.

If this is not a DSB, then I am not sure what is!

And here is a pick of the foam that I as talking about earlier. It has gone away some, I am almost 100% sure it is from the mineral mud. Anyway, here it is.

I have been researching Opistognathus aurifrons quite a bit and have decided to go for these guys in the seagrass tank. With a 5.25" DSB I think they will have plenty of room to dig and make burrows. I may even try to breed them. Hopefully I will have success and will be able to sell a few of them. If anyone has any good information about their breeding habits and the babies diests, please send the link my way! Thanks!
