He can be shipped. Its a sand sifter sea star. Very easy to carefor. They can grow up to a foot, but as you can see in the pic, mine is only a few inches. I have 2. They are both about the same size. They are both yours if you pay for shipping! Or, If you wait a little longer, when yourtank is ready for corals, Ill ship some corals along too.

You could get normal shipping to me and it would get here soon, but i would like to wait until i can get some corals aswell, maybe this summer.Overnight is probably the best move though. I could even just drive up this summer, my grandma lives in Philadelphia so depending on where you live in NJ that is always a possibility.

Just a little update:

All the seagrass and mangroves are doing very well. They are growing and my amphipod polpulation has at least doubled.

I keep forgetting to take pics, but the grass is growing like there is no tomorrow! Some of the "stalks" have reached the top of the water. the mangroves are also going out of controle. Their roots are starting to expand like crazy. I will try really really hard to remember to take pics later on today.

I forgot to take pics, but thats OK. I have an update that I would like to say. I have been reading about what nutrients plants like and how to get them to grow really well. So, me being me I decided to put my entire system at risk and try a new method I had read about. I added (gasp) tap water! 5 gallons to be exact. I read that because of all the nutrients that are in regular tap water is the reason we use RO water for the tank, if not, its possible that algae and other things like that can grow. It makes sense.....I have a plant tank and want things to grow. The only concern I have is the chlorine in the tap water. I am very bad at explaining my own ideas so non of this may make any sense to you, so if it doesnt, please ask and I will try to re-explain it. I have been in PA for the past....i dunno how many days, but since thurseday. That is when I had added the tap water. Hopefully the plants will still be growing and all my coral will still be alive (fingers crossed). This is either a really bad idea, or pure genious, and I am not leaning towards pure genious.

If you are going to be doing tap water get a bottle of dechlor, not the stress coat stuff that dechlorinates but just plain dechlor. It will say on the bottle 1 drop per gallon, it chemically removes chlorine from the water. The stress coat stuff that has dechlor in it will cause your protien skimmer to go crazy because it messes with surface tension of the water.

Edit-- I ran a reef back in the 90s on tap water for 5 years.

Alright, so if I got some kind of tap watdr filter that removes the chlorine from the water, you are saying I should be fine....right?

What I am thinking it this....

For top offs, I will use tap water, but everytime I do a water change or large top offs, I will use RODI water.

Even those pics are a little older. Many of the mangroves are just about touching the lights now.....2-3 of them are and several others are within an inch or 2.

thats cool you should but cardinals in their as that is there natural habitat with mangroves, its pretty cool cause i saw a video on them and they said that the cardinals adapted and looked differentley deppending if they lived in the bottom, the middle, or the top of the mangroves ( but these arent available to us except for one of them which is the bangaii cardinal one)

My pan was to get a mated pair of yellowhead jawfish....But then my cheato became so overgrown and crowded out the seagrass. So now there are only a few strands of seagrass, but they are doing really well. I want to loop in yet another 30g tank with only cheato in it. This wont happen till I move though, and who knows how long that could be.
