I'm glad you could trap it!
Since we are talking about pistols...I do not know if that sun/heat producing is true for all pistols or just one kind. I was reading in the latest issue of Coral magazine that they haven't tested the capabilities of all pistols. BUT....on the topic of mantis, I also read that even though they look more physically capable of whooping a pistol, pistols can take them out.

I saw it on youtube. There was a little presentation given by a lady that was studying the pistol shrimp. A TV crew was documenting her doing research and she convinced them to help her by using a 20,000fps camera to capture the matis's "punch".

I had to move him out of my room last night he was keeping me up his fav thang to do was set on top of the rock and hit it making a crack crack sound for such a little guy he can hit hard
