| take the rock he lives in out of the tank and in to a bucket full of salt water, wait till he comes out of his hiding place and goes into the bucket. then sell the mantis. "well sell it if you want" or u can always eat it lol |
| ||||
| If you save that bugger, I will most likely take him. But I need to get my 40g tank set up first. I am in the process but it wont be done till Feb or so.

| i remembered seeing this on the liveaquaria's live rock acclimation: Helpful Tips for Controlling Unwanted Pests: Submerse the new rock into a bucket filled with saltwater with a specific gravity of 1.035 to 1.040 for one minute. Any invertebrates including mantis shrimp, bristle worms, and crabs will quickly evacuate from the rock and into the bucket of water. Remove the live rock from the bucket and sort through the invertebrates in the bucket. Determine those you want to add to your system and discard unwanted pests. Bristle worms still attached to the rock can be removed with a pair of needle-nosed pliers or tweezers. This technique can be used to remove unwanted pests before or after curing your newly arrived live rock. source: Live Rock and Live Sand Acclimation and Curing Guide

| Another way is to wiggle your finger around in the water for a few minutes. If you see the mantis, make sure you get your finger nice and close! (im kidding)

| There "claws" move so fast that it compresses the air in the water for a split second, and when the air gets compressed it heats up to the suns temperature! I bet you diidnt know that!
