Default Need help setting up nano

Hi--
I have been reading forums for a week or two and see much conflicting info.
So far it looks like this is the best way to start a aquapod 12 with pc lights.
Fill tank with ro/di water and salt
Add 15 to 20 lbs of LR
Add 12lbs of aragonite sand
Run mj900(replaced stock pump) and koralia nano ( for extra movement)
keep lights OFF
Set 50w visi-therm stealth for 79 degrees
Do NO water changes until cycling is complete
Just top off with ro/di water when needed and test every few days.
Let it go till cycling is complete.
How does this sound and I would appreciate any advise on changes or additional steps. Also should I use carbon during cylcling? Can I fit heater in filter area if it is 8.25" long and is that better than placing it in main tank?
Thanks for your help---Gar1948

sure you can put the heater in the filter if it fits but iv never seen or herd of that... and you said that the aquapod 12 gallon tank was the best way to start but really the bigger the tank the easyer it is soo really if you can get a bigger tank try to cause it really helps

Doesn't matter where you keep the heater, most keep it in the sump or in your case the filter. Keeps it out of the main display (kind of an eye sore). If you can fit it in the back stick it back there and your start up sounds good

Usually in the all-in-one tanks people do a few things. The first thing people do it is throw out the bioballs in the second chamber. The bioballs overtime will just become nitrate factories and you don't want that. You can do one of two things in the back. You can refill it with just Live Rock rubble or you can make it into a mini fuge. If you go the fuge route all you need to do is fill it half with cheato and half with live rock then stick a light over the top of the second compartment. Most people are usually disappointed with the return pump, and upgrade that as well. Most upgrade to a Maxi jet 900. Those are just a few of things that people have done to the back of their all-in-one tank. Trust me if you google nano mods or AP12 mods you will get tons of ideas
