Icon7 Pyro's 1.5g Pico Build

So I got bored today.
Today I decided to build a pico tank. I have been doing some research on them and think they are just the coolest. I had a 1.5 gallon betta tank sitting around, a spare pump, and some old acrylic. All the fixins for a Pico tank . Still need the light but I'll get that later.

Planning on it being a Sexy shrimp/ shroom tank. I will post pics of it in a little got some friends coming over so when they leave I'll post some pics of the the build.

Well here are the pics:

This is the tank as it was when I bought it:

Here is the false wall that I made for the back of the tank. I planned it so the water would overflow into the back chamber and then get pumped back into the tank. This will get siliconed onto the back of the tank:

Here is the tank with the false wall siliconed in (I know its not that great of a silicone job):

Side view with false wall:

Tank with sand in it. My cat Fettucini got curious:

Here is the tank filled with LR and everything in place. I only had a little left from my 20g so I will have to get some more rubble from the LFS, but for now this will do. Starting to look good :

I started everything up and it really looks great! I need to add more sand but besides that its exactly what I was after

Here is a top shot of the tank with everything running:

Back shot of the tank. You can see the back chamber. I have some LR rubble and the sponge for catching debris. I will be adding a little cheato when I get my hands on some.

And here is the tank in its final spot:

This tank was a blast to build. I can't wait for the dust to settle in the water. I'll post update pics when it does. All in all this tank should be sweet once it's done cycling and I can get some stuff in it. So let me know what ya think/should do to improve this little guy

Lol ya they are just in there until I can take them to the LFS. They out grew my 14g. Kept knocking down my coral frags so I stuck them in there until I can get time to go to LFS.

Picos are cool They are like the ultimate nano. I plan on doing a Ric garden with 2 sexy shrimp as the stars of the tank. Picos are a lot more versatile then you think

so this seems to be a good thread to pose this idea...I have a 25 gallon sump and a little one gallon (maybe a little bigger) tank that I used to keep a tarantula in. They are both collecting dust right now. Could I just cycle the 25 gallons of sump water through the small tank and pack it way, way past its own 1 gallon bioload capacity?

No because the reason you can't keep fish in most pico tanks is not because of filtration reasons. The fish just have no place to swim.

yeah, I am not trying to necessarily put fish in there. I was thinking about small inverts and coral, maybe one very tiny percula clown. Is there any reason in particular why corals and anemones and whatnot couldn't survive in such a setup?

Seems like after the tank crash you decided to start 2 new tanks haha. Good looking pico. Only pitfall is no room for fish only inverts/corals but still very interesting. Picos are just as challenging as a 55 gallon tank IMO.

I like how you set up the false wall. Can't wait to see something other than a couple of snails in this tank keep us updated.

So I decided to try my hand at having a couple dwarf seahorse in this tank. Been reading up on them and figure that they would be quite happy. I will be heading out to the grass flats later today during low tide and try my hand at catching some. I will post pictures of what I catch later on
