Default JBJ w/ HQI

Hey all-
We are considering this new nano for the house JBJ 28 Gallon Nano Cube HQI Aquarium (Saltwater Aquarium Supplies > Aquariums > Nano Cube > Tank )

We want to be able to keep an anemone, and i'm not sure any of the other cubes can do it w/out a mod. Maybe the Red sea, but that one is pushing the $ envelope, the shipping to AK seems to be as much as the tank itself! Anywho...

Does anyone have experience with this JBJ? Is it decent construction?

Any other cubes out there that could support a BTA?

Thanks!!

i think thats a good system and at 5 watts per gallon im sure you could keep an anemone if you had good params.
I would recommend buying from the drs though you can get it cheaper that way.

unfortunately shipping to my zip code is over $300. Living in Alaska has been REALLY hard to find things for this hobby! *sigh*

do you find not having the dawn/dusk option bothersom at all? I'm thinking on getting the upgraded hood with actinics but not sure if it is worth the extra $ or not...

I don't think its a big deal. But you can always start with the basics and upgrade later if you think it is needed.

I am in the same boat as you blu23girl. I am looking into getting an all-in-one system. These are my choices:

Cadlights 12G Nano reef, 4T5 32w w/ full Refugium for $175 OR 22 gal for $220 (however, I would like to keep more than 1 fish - I was thinking 3 - 4)

29 Oceanic bio cube for $236

24 gallon AquaPod, 150W HQI Metal Halide System (sunpod) for $320

24G JBJ Nano Cube Deluxe with LED and FREE MSS SKIMMER for $196

However I do not have the shipping cost issues that you do, so I think I'm going to go with the aquapod 24 with the sunpod from the Drs (running a great sale right now) so I can increase the variety of corals or anemone I can get. This probably doesn't help you, but you may be able to save money if a LFS has an aquapod with sunpod set-up opposed to the JBJ. I've read many people having heating issues with the new JBJ 28 and have to buy a chiller wich cost anywhere from $150 to over $200. Good luck.

If you have your heart set on JBJ check this website out. Its located in Canada and might be easier on shipping costs ($43 to Alaska) and free stand with tank;
