| If a generator is out of the question a couple of battery operated air pumps will help keep the oxygen levels up and add a little water movement.I would move them around a bit during the power outage to get movement to different areas. It wouldn't hurt to have some water mixed and ready to go just in case the outage last longer than you anticipate.Add a air pump to it as well.

| Also, after the power goes out, make sure to remove the lid from the tank. You will want as much surface area for gas exchange as possible. The battery powdered pumps are pretty cheap < $15 and run on D-Cells. They are your best bet. I have used them before during power outages. Good luck and stay safe. -Larry |

| Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately the hurricane has snuck up on me more quickly than I had expected, and all of the fish/pet stores were closed today so I wasn't able to get an air pump. I'm expecting only 12 hrs max of power outage so hopefully I can keep things alive during that time :/ Thanks again!! |
