Yes it is an active project. The aquarium is about 1 mo old. And I will probably get a fish (or two?) this week. But it's mainly going to be a coral tank.

The oceanic 14gal biocube came with:

48 Watt Compact Fluorescent Lighting
1 - 24w 10,000K Lamp
1 - 24w Actinic 03 Lamp
Moon Glow Blue LED's

I run actinic 1 hour before 10k comes on. and then turn it off 1 hour after. So two hours in the morning.

run 10k for 10hrs

actinic comes on 1 hour before 10k shutoff and stays on 1 hour after. Then moon glow comes on when actinic shuts off and they shut off the next morning with the actinic comes on. Repeat cycle 24/7/365.

As for the two fish theory, the LFS said that the bio load would be good with two fish, coral and cleaner crew. I'm still ramping up on the cleaner crew. but if the tank stays clean with what I have I might move to more than two fish. But I'm going slow and careful.

I read a quote on here that said something like "Remember the only things that happen quickly in this hobby are bad things." So I will put in 1 fish then two fish. See how the tank likes it.

Looks great so far, Travlr. Is the green all over the rocks algae or is it supposed to look like that? Looks nice on there, whether it's supposed to be there or not. :P

Coma: green is algae. New tank still maturing. Does look nice but want more coraline algae. Speaking of which

ry77: the coraline algae behind the zoo came from the LFS with the zoo. Wish I could claim it for my own. Also I don't think it is doing well...it has some white edges at the moment. I have having difficulty maintaining my Ca level. It seems the torch is sucking down every bit I put in there...

It still looks like you have some nice healthy green and purple growth, the white edges will eventually turn that bright green or purple color too, I still have a bunch of it on my rocks. It's like new growth, not a bad sign if you ask me.

Cool tank. Keep adding pictures when you get more corals and fish.

Well you asked for it and I've done it. There are two new pictures posted. One of my emerald crab and one of my N. Snail. Being new to posting pictures...what other things do you want to see?

Hey...Added a six line wrasse this weekend and found a starfish (I didn't buy him I swear!) in my tank. Have added pictures of both. The starfish pic is a little blurry but you'll get the idea. Same link as began this thread.

The anemone is a torch coral and it looks like it has grown some and the zoo has put out new polyps on the back. Just can't see them in these pics. When the polyps get a little bigger I'll post some pics of them. Right now my biggest concern is my low alkalinity. It is running around 8 Kh with Ca at 220-240 and Ph 8. Not sure what to do about that.

Wow I lreally ove your tank. I have the same tank a 14 gal Oceanic Bio cube been set up since December 2006. I think it took around 3 or 4 months before I started getting purple coraline algae. Now I have it growing on the front and side acrylic. I also have growing all over the rocks. The coraline algae that was on the rocks has multiplied to twice the size. I don't do nothing to the tank except a 1-2 gallon water change filter cleaning and rensing of the bio ball every other sunday. I have been adding things every month and a half, and constantly check my parameters with my test kit. I have had nothing die. Knock on my wood head. Ha Ha Ha! Just added a Zooanthid that has about ten new polyps gowing out. Everything I use is manufactured supplied. Keep up the good job.
