Default Starting my first tank

Well i have a 29g Oceanic bio cube on order and it gets here tomorrow. I been reading about them for a lil bit and was wondering if i should just not put the bio balls in at all and put some LR chunks in where they should be. I know i should know more about what im getting myself into but its like a lil kid wish to have a saltwater tank. A few other questions i have are should i get a protein scimmer right away or wait and see how it is with out one. I dont plan on getting fish right away just a cleaner crew when my tank cycles. I have a few LFS near me with different goodies that make me what everything but i wanna take it kind of slow and make sure i do it right the first time so i dont turn my tank into a death factory.

Well I'm new at this to so you should conferm my thinking . But bioballs are to sold to help hold the good guys as you tank makes them. And live rock is full of the good guys allredy so it sounds good to me. I have seen a lot of the fok here use LR in there sumps. My LFS has LR and mangrove growing in his.

ok you can use the bio balls that is if you clean them monthly. but it would be easier and better for your aquarium.

Dump the bio-balls. They'll cause you problems if you don't clean them regularly. Sapphire makes skimmers that will fit in the back compartments of various cubes. You can find them on nanotuners

Ok...Well today i got my fist fish. Two true clowns. they love there new home so far and are swimming around like crazy. I also got another chunk of LR with a purple shroom on it. It shriveled up when he took it out of the tank to sell to me and is still shriveled i was wondering if it is ok and will get better. Also got a few snails to help with the cleaning crew. Ill try and post better pictures and keep posting.

yeah the shroom came with the LR free because the owner of my LFS kept getting people that just wanted the shroom but it had its foot in there tight and said if i just bought the LR i can have the shroom free. I think that was a good deal.

I think i might have killed a hitch hiker. I went out today and got a lil rock with 3 zoo's on it and i didn't know but the rock had a baby starfish on it. I added it directly to the tank because my LFS has the same water readings and he said it should be fine. I just hope the star makes it its only like 3mm wide.

It was my mistake I got the dates wrong...for some reason I thought it was only 4 days after you've had it setup.
