Ok as you can see i am new to these forums. I just got a 29 gallon bio-cube and need to know everything i need to get any and all the help i can get would be great

Mike,
If you're looking to set up a reef tank, you should have more LR than what you have. You'll need 1-2#/gal of rock for adequate biological filtration. If you're planning on a FOWLR, you are probably ok but more would be better.

i am going to be getiing more stuff i a bit i am on a bugect right now so that is all i can do for now i am going to get my crew tommaro

Just curious-is the black sand just a preference thing or is it to mimic a certain type of reef? I was curious if sand color makes a difference in the tank? I'm a newbie so forgive me if the question sounds stupid.

Black sand is just a preference. No difference in what it will do in your tank. It will become live like any other color.. LOL

BUT remember if your making a reef with actinic lights the coral and fish colors will not be as bright. JMO
