Ok, swinginbeef. That is what I thought but hey, if the stuff starts dieing, Ill take it back up to him and hell not be happy to see me.

Id already planned on not getting anything else anyway. This hobby is not very cheap and Im perfectly willing to take it slowly.
I gave up my ciclid tank to get this one and I dont intend to screw this up.

How do you feel about cleaning the sand on a weekly basis?
By the way, I love your name.

Well I can tell Im not pupular right now. lol
I dont know guys. If I made a mistake listening to this man, then I will have learned a lesson BUT every one has their opinions about how to do things. For example this tank came with bioballs and Ive found out LF is a better filter than those so I have LF in the sump. Then the fans on the hood of my tank arent adjustable so I have to put a fan literally over the water to keep the water temp below 82F and I wont adjust the whole temp in the house just to accomodate the tank temp
so I guess what Im trying to say is that some people do things differntly than others.
Im going to listen to this man until something dies in this tank then Ill reassss the situation.

Hey Troy, noticed that you said your LFS you are going to has a lot of fish with ich on them? That scares me, a LFS should not have fish with ich. That tells me they they do not know what they are doing with their livestock.

They should at least put them in a hospital tank and treat the ich before displaying to the public...

Hi Ryan,

No that was the very first SW LFS I was going to. I bought my tank there. I havent been back since then. The owner was reluctant to help me in general anyway, not a very informaive guy and he is always busy doing something else. .
Now that Ive been going to another store and now a third store, I dont ever plan on going back to that first store.

Hi guys,

Everything is going great in my tank. Bought some more rock yesterday with some nice pods and some of that green algae that grows so well in sumps on it.
My question is Ive got a baby star fish in the tank, well two but I know what the other one is. I dont know what baby chocolate chips starfish look like and I want to know if that is what this one is because I DONT want it eating my corals.
Does anyone know what a baby CC star fish looks like?
You guys are great. I just ask the question and poof, like a majic genie I get quick answers here. Thanks.

Yo,

My tank is looking great. Everyone is very happy. So happy my cleaner shrimp decided to molt.

Would someone tell me if I can leave his old skeleton in the tank or should I take it out?

Thanks cappy,

One more question. I think I have crushed coral in my tank..about 14 pounds. I bought some LS today and it is much finer than what I currently have in the tank. Can I just mix this fine sand with the crushed coral? Ive read crushed coral isnt great for a SW tank but I dont know exactly why. Can you fill me in as to why CC isnt good to have?

Another question. I took a piece of LR out of the tank to kill some Aptasia Anenome the other day. I squirted very hot water into the holes they were living in. Not too much I thought just enough to kill the anenome BUT where the biggest anenemone was the rock has turned white there and is obviously dead. Theres about a half inch of bleached around the paremeter of the rock where I squirted the water.
My question is will more of the rock die around that area as well?
Ive been told while diving not to touch the corals because where you touch them about an inch of rock will die around that area. Is this the same sort of situation I have here with this LR?

Ok I really appreciate all the suggestive answers Im getting to my questions. Ive got another question for someone whos willing to answer it.
Is nine snails in my 29 gal. tank too much? I have a hermit crab and two shrimp too.

I got a new wrasse yesterday. Id gotten a purple pseudochromis but he was meaner than a snake and was picking on my little damsel and ranford gobi. I adore this little gobi so I caught the very beautiful but nasty tempered pseudochromis and traded him in for a wrasse. The wrasse will stay small and hasnt bothered anyone including my shrimp. So he can stay.
The tank and all its inhabitants are doing great and water perimeters, temp and salinity are staying stable.

The only thing I think Im going to be doing a little differently from now on concerns the addition of Iodine. Ill add it but I think Ill add it during the week between water changes and less than what the directions on the bottle say to add. I dont think the candy cane coral nor the green chromis like it too much.
Ive been adding calcium daily and phytoplanton as well every few days.
I love this hobby.
