Default Dying Mushrooms UGH!

Hi Y'll,

I got a great piece of LR with fan worms and mushroms on it BUT my tank is cycling and the mushrooms are dying I think. They have strings coming out of them this am. Should I do a small water change. I know it will make the cycle longer BUT may save the mushroo,ms? Any suggestions please?

it is kinda hard to see the shrooms in this pic. what type of lighting do you have? shrooms have zooxanthallae in them.

im not sure what type of lights they have, i think they have 36 watts. probably a 50/50 bulb. i think it should be OK. you might want to put some phytoplankton in there every once in a while.

You guys didnt read that her tank is in the middle of a cycle...

Kim,

Just ride the cycle out, I wouldnt do the W/C..

If they do seem to die and any of its left, they will come back to life...

I'm surprised your even having a cycle with that rock, it looked so full of life !!

Ya it's in a cycle and ill try the photoplanktin

Kim,
From your picture it appears that the mushrooms are positioned higher up in the tank. They may be reacting to a higher light level. Try positioning them lower in the tank - mushrooms will open up more with less llight.
