Nice looking tanks. What size tank is the mandarin in, if it is the 30 that you have in your info you may wanna cross your fingers.

no its broke up between a jbj 29 gal and a 30 gal long, i wouldnt do tht to all those fish, lol thts like commiting fish suicide. Just putting the two different clowns togehter would be crazy in a 30. lol. No its some form my tank and some from my wifes tank.

I was just talking about the Mandarin itself. Most of the time they can not find enough food in small tanks, i have heard anything under 75, and will starve to death. Just what i have heard though.

oh i know, ive done alot of research on them, and yes i know most if not all aquarists will say not have one in something smaller then say a 90 gal, or at least 50+ pounds of live rock. well i have the LR int eh tank and i supply a steady diet of copepods about every 2-3 weeks jsut to make sure there gettign enough, plus w/e is released form my refugium. I have a 210 gal tht it will be going in as soon as i get it up and running, but for now its healthy fat and doing wonderful as are the rest of the fish.
I wasnt goingt o do it jsut becuase i didnt want it to starve trust me but i did my research and am doing what i can not to drown my tank with copepods. I have had it for 2 months now and no issues. Am i a person to say u can keep a mandrian in a nano tank no, i thnk u need to LR to spully it diet but like i said its nly temp. and will be going in a much larger one soon.

Alright then. I just brought it up because they are very pretty fish and die too often because people dont really understand the feeding requirements, i dont completely but know enough to ask. It seems like you know whats going on though and did the research, so Kudos to you

Im no telling u to trust me, and yes i know what u mean when u say they die to often becuase ppl jsut think thye are pretty and put them in the tank b/c of tht alone. It took me some time to actually make my descision to do it, looking at everything i could possibly find on them before going ahead and buying one. I dont what her to die at all and almost took her to a buddy of mines FS, but after talking to him a lil more and having hte other tank going up soon as the LR and cycle finish i think she sould be ok. I hate it when a fish dies, my wifes bleeny last night kicked the can for some odd reason dont know why he'd been in her tank for some time, but i knw what U mean. IT ok too to tell me U dont think its right, lol, i dont mind, but im also looking at the long term not just the fat its living in my 30 gal for now. but thanks for your consern its ppl like you stating a fact and what you think is why i came this form so ty.

I was just wondering your reasons. If you are taking the right steps to make sure it is healthy and stuff like then awesome. I was just wondering, that is all. They are pretty tanks, you should post more pictures.

if you would like to see full pics of the tanks now, sure. My wife had her BT take a dive for the worst so its rock and it are in tank for now but yah i can take some more full shots and post them here. Yes jeremy im trying to take the right steps to insure the survial of the lil guy, i would hate it to die just b/c i think its pretty.

Hey MS, i think tht the LR u have in ur tank should have some stuff on it, depending on what you have in the tank you may wanna try and identify what the greasy lookin things are , like aptasia. If you have tht pepermint shrimp work great for them if your tank is fairly new. If it is est. then you may wanna look at copperbanded butterfly fish would great also, but they are a lil more on the not so reef safe side. I personally had great success with pepermint shrimp. I added 2 to my 30 gal and in 2 days all i had were gone. Anyway the best thing i can say is try and look up what they are and find out how they they are, some greasy things are actually good for the tank. If you have any other question i would be more then willing to share my exp. and anything else i can.

I just read the whole thread. I have had a madarine in my 50 gallon tank with deep sand bed, 50lbs LR and SUMP for almost 2 years now. He has learned to eat the pellets that sink to the bottom of the tank and looks/acts very healthy. He even comes over to the area where the pellets usually land when he sees me coming. this is the only one i have ever had. the tank was over a year old when i put it in.

Well i have had no issues with my cherub, he actually eats most of the stuff in the tank tht the other fish dont. He grazes alot but i havnt had issues with him and i have had him for about 6 months now.
Yes my mandrin is doing wonderful, when i got her she was very skinny and look really bad in 2 months she has doubled her girth and has a wonderful personality, but not every fish ppl buy will do good, at least in my experiance. But ty for your thoughts. I have heard too paul, tht most pygmy angels area a 50/50 chance, with flames and coral beauty's being the most least to nip corals.
