My 24g Nano Cube is sitting where it will stay, I bought the heater, a thermometer, oceanic salt, and the Master testing kit for saltwater now I just need the water. My question is, do I need to get a test kit for more than Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, pH? Do I need to test for calcium, iodine, and other stuff (like strontium, I think, and what else?). I bought calcium and iodine for sw but I don't know if I need it or not (its the chemicals, don't you need iodine added to the water for things like shrimp to molt and other stuff?).

So basically, what more do I need? After I get the water ready to go, I'm ordering my live rock and live sand and then going from there.
I'm trying to think of what I need but I'm drawing a blank. I was told to replace the stock pump, should I see how it works for now or should I just go ahead and switch? And to what should that be?

For starters you won't need anything else other than what you mentioned...but once you start putting corals in you'll need to start checking calcium levels and also iodine. But for starters you don't need anything too expensive just to check for cycling purposes.

I just want to have everything I will need on hand, not necessarily just to get it started.
Don't inverts need calcium to form their shells and what not? I'm pretty sure I will be going with "The Package" from Tampa Bay Saltwater and the second part of the package has critters.

I would get the tests for CA, KH and phosphates. Iodine is not much of a heavy hitter (this is my opinion) and comes in your salt mix.
