Default 12 gallon cube master

I just got a 12 gallon CUBE MASTER nano tank. I have never done a small reef tank like this. in case you dont know the filter is an internal overflow with 3 chambers one with polyester, one with filter foam, and one with a bag of carbon and a bag of ceramic bio media. i have put 10 pds of sand and 8 or so pds of live rock. since i have never handled this tank or any of the sort i was wondering about ideas to do with it and any pointers people wanna throw out.

I have done many many searches on websites before I ever got my Nano, and have spent a lot of time chatting with my LFS about Nanos. The first thing I have noticed and I did as well, was take out the ceramic and bioballs and replace them with 1.5-2lbs of live rock rubble. It has done wonders for my tank. I was told that the ceramic and bioballs will cause to many ammonia problems. Then, the stock pump may not be stong enough, again I'm not familiar with your particular tank but you may want to upgrade to a larger pump. Like maybe a MJ 600 or similar. I wouldn't go extreme with it though because you will end up blowing your tank away. What is the wattage of light you have? You can always upgrade lights later if you want to house more than softies.

How do I post pics? Maybe this will work, if it doesn't help!

Looks like you are off to a good start. Maybe look into modding the rear chamber to hold cheato. The only downside to keeping live rock in the rear chambers is the amount of detrius that builds up. LR in the rear chambers is personal preference as it adds to your biological filtration. Go cheato with a light on it.
