Default Angry Damsel questions

So i have had my tank up and running for the past few weeks. I bought two damsels and the LFS told be they were not to aggressive. Well my blue damsel has started to flare up its fins at the other light green damsel. He has also stuck his tail in the sand and stirred it up a few times. I also saw one of my cleaner shrimps curl hi tail up and also stirred up the sand.

Should I be worried, is there something going on in my tank that I should be aware of? My levels are in good shape as I test every day.

Anyone experience this??

I have
Aquapod 24 Gal
MJ 1200 Pump
Zoas
2 Cleaner Shrimp
3 snails
2 Hermit crabs very small

Thanks in Advance...

Lol well your LFS was , as many are guilty of doing, lying to you. Damsels are very aggressive especially when they are the first fish added to a tank. Well, I should say most. The green Chromis that you have is not aggressive and will do well with other tank mates. The blue devil damsel is just that, a blue devil. They are notoriously mean and territorial. The sturring of that sand is nothing to be worried of, probably just looking for food. They do that.

My clown fans the sand all day every day. he's not looking for food don't know why he does it. he does in pretty much the same 3 areas, to the point that i can see the glass under the sand, and got about a 3" bed. you said up & running a few weeks? have you cycled? if not might as well keep them in there and create bio-load for cycle, just don't get too attached cause there's a chance they won't make it through the spike.

they're not exactly damselfish. Same family different sub-family. close enough.
Quote:
Pomacentridae is a family of perciform fish, comprising the damselfishes and clownfishes. They are exclusively marine (rarely brackish), and noted for their hardy constitutions and territoriality. Many are brightly coloured, so they are popular in aquaria.

Around 360 species are classified in this family, in approximately 28 genera. Of these, members of two genera, Amphiprion and Premnas (subfamily Amphiprioninae), are commonly called clownfish or anemonefish, while members of other genera (e.g. Chromis) are commonly called damselfish.[1]
Explains alot on how some damsels can host anemones and they have similiar aggressive/territorial behavior.
