Instant Ocean synthetic sea salt simulates natural seawater for thriving marine aquariums. Developed through sophisticated biological and chemical testing, Instant Ocean provides your marine fish, invertebrates, and plants the necessary major, minor, and trace elements. Exceptional solubility, uniform particle size, and superior material selection made Instant Ocean the standard by which other synthetic sea salts are measured. No other product has such an extensive history of successful proven usage.
I buy it buy the 160gallon mix for $29.59 at Dr Foster & Smith
plus a $10.00 shipping charge.
Still a good buy.

Sounds like they write a nice label too!

Really believe what you want about salt. There are several comparisons out all of them with different results depending on who pays for the testing. Its all about the almighty dollar.

At the risk of sounding cheap and/or inexperienced, I use the Petco salt! I used to use the Aquatic Gardens and LOVE that salt but Petco stopped selling it so they could sell their store brand, which, so far after testing, seems to be the same as Aquatic Gardens.... those copy cats!

The mag is a tad low in this salt but the calc is good and everyone in my tank is happy, healthy and the tank is looking just fine. It's cheaper salt as well.... been using it for over a month. Have great coraline growth after switching to Petco too but, that's probably due to starting the kalk drip at night!

How much are you paying for your salt?

Their's not being copycats. From what I have heard, Petco wanted to sell their own brand of salt, so they are made an agreement with Aquatic Gardens to get large quantities of their salt and re-package it as Petco brand salt.

Lol! I was 99% sure that's what Petco did! After buying the smallest box of their salt, it mixes like AG, in the same exact bag as AG and has the same blue measuring cup!

I paid $40 for a 50lb bucket of it.

Guess I'd rather pay an American company for salt than China....
