Default 14 gallon biocube refugium

Hello everyone, I am new to this site and have been keeping a 14 gallon biocube for about 6 months and I had some things die in my tank. I am interested in making the back chambers a refugium with live rock rubble. Does anyone have pictures of how they did this?

Here are my opinions.

I have a 29 biocube. Made the first chamber a holder for the Oceanic skimmer. Second chamber a small drip tray with a phosphate pad and carbon pd. Under that a bag of Purigen and a bag of Chemipure Elite. In the rest of the chamber the Stealth heater and a ball of Chaeto with an Azoo palm light over the top. 3rd chamber return pump and ATO float switches. Here is a pic.

In my opinion live rock rubble in the back chamber is a waste as there is not enough of it to really do any good and it would be a trap for any detritus and hard to keep clean.

thanks for the pics im interested in how you setup your second chamber. It looks like you split the second chamber into two sections one with the media and one with the cheato. How exactly did you mod this more pics would be great. How do you like that skimmer as im curious as to if I should get one. Is it worth the money?

Also do you have the MH mod on it as it looks like you have ditch your lid?

the protein skimmer for my 29
oceanic biocube (the small 8 or
10 inch one) did not produce any
oily gunk or very little, try it
and if it works, good otherwise
try a better skimmer (Remora
or CPR) also a friend has a
seaclone 100 that is working well
it is only $69 . research. hope
this is a good reply. peace

No separation in the 2nd chamber. The filter pads are resting on a drip tray I made that hangs on the wall between chamber 1 and 2. The Purigen and Chemi pure bags are just sitting under that. The Chaeto is just sitting in the chamber with the rest of the stuff.

Yes I do have a Sunpod 150w HQI halide light and have removed the stock lid. You can also see the screen lid I made from some 3/8" pond netting in the last picture.

Thanks for the replies. This site has already helped out a lot and I have only been here a week. I am going to make a list on the things I need for the rear chambers.

I have also seen people velcro lights and cut the film off the back of the tank. Does this work well or is the Palm Light better? Have you seen a major difference in your water quality with the cheato and is it growing at a good rate.

How much did the light set you back cause I want one but it gets 100+ where I live and I know that the MH will increase my tank temp a lot.
